The Idaho College of Osteopathic Medicine is proud to recognize third-year student Benjamin Babbitt and recent graduate Natalie Pang, DO, for receiving scholarships to attend the prestigious Sutherland Cranial Teaching Foundation’s (SCTF) Osteopathy in the Cranial Field: A Basic Course held at Baptist University College of Osteopathic Medicine (BUCOM) in Memphis, TN.

Babbitt, a current participant in ICOM’s Osteopathic Principles and Practice (OPP) Scholars Program, and Pang, an alumna of the program, were each awarded $1,100 scholarships to attend the five-day course. The training provided participants with advanced instruction in osteopathy in the cranial field, a specialized area of osteopathic medicine that emphasizes the relationship between structure and function within the body.

The SCTF Basic Course brought together students, physicians, educators, and clinicians from across the United States and the world, creating a unique environment for learning, collaboration, and professional development. Through hands-on training and mentorship from leading experts in the osteopathic cranial field, Babbit and Pant expanded their knowledge and refined clinical skills that will benefit their future patients and professional practice.

Beyond the educational benefits, the experience represents an important opportunity for the growth of ICOM’s OPP Scholars Program. By engaging with nationally and internationally recognized leaders in osteopathic medicine, both scholars gained valuable insights that they can share with the broader ICOM community. Participation in programs such as the SCTF Basic Course reflects ICOM’s commitment to advancing osteopathic education and supporting students and alumni as they pursue opportunities for professional growth.
