Early Decision Program
The Early Decision Program is a service for the highly qualified medical school applicant who has made a definite decision that ICOM is their first choice among medical schools. The applicant must meet the following requirements and agree to apply only to ICOM until an early decision notification is made.
To qualify for early decision the applicant must:
- Have a minimum GPA of 3.20 both cumulative and sciences GPA reported through AACOMAS.
- Have taken the Medical College Admissions Test (MCAT) and earned a composite score of 500 or higher.
- Submit an American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine Application Service (AACOMAS) application and supporting documents to ICOM by August 1st.
- Submit Letter of Intent to the ICOM Admissions Office via email (admissions@icom.edu) by August 1 indicating that the applicant is applying only to ICOM and wishes to be considered for early decision.
- Withhold all applications to other medical schools until early decisions are made by ICOM.
Procedure
Applications become available through AACOMAS in early May (exact dates vary each cycle). The application can be found at this link.
- Application, transcripts from all institutions attended, required letter of recommendation and MCAT scores must be received by AACOMAS by August 1.
- A Letter of Intent must be sent to the ICOM Admissions Office by August 1
- Interviews are conducted in early fall for applicants deemed qualified by the Admissions Committee.
- Notification of status will be made within two weeks of the interview.
Upon Acceptance, a $1,000 non-refundable tuition prepayment (deposit) will be required within 30 days of acceptance.
While the deadline to apply for admission through the early decision program is August 1st, the sooner an application is submitted, the sooner an early decision can be made.
Those applicants not accepted for early decision will be automatically returned to the regular applicant pool for later evaluation.
