As a student at ICOM, you’ll have access to a comprehensive academic support system designed to proactively provide the resources you need to succeed.

Learning Specialists are available to support your academic journey, and offer personalized academic coaching and guidance on effective study strategies. The ICOM Library also offers a wide range of digital and in-person academic resources to support your coursework.

In addition, ICOM provides a robust peer tutoring and mentoring program. Students can take advantage of one-on-one appointments, drop-in support, workshops, lab assistants, and tutor-led review sessions throughout the academic year.

Academic coaching can help improve study skills, time management, organization, and test taking skills. ICOM’s Learning Specialists can help in a variety of ways, including:

  • Creating a study plan for an exam
  • Offer test-taking strategies and ways to deal with test anxiety
  • Discuss best practices for group work
  • Model better reading and memory retention strategies
  • Discuss learning and study strategies, critical thinking, and problem solving
  • Prioritizing tasks and reducing stress
  • Be an outside perspective, offering insight into how you can be a better student
