Idaho College of Osteopathic Medicine (ICOM) will undergo a Comprehensive Evaluation (Evaluation of Institutional Effectiveness) conducted by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU) this fall. This evaluation is the final stage of ICOM’s application for institutional accreditation by NWCCU.
A peer-review team composed of faculty and staff from other accredited institutions will visit ICOM from October 28-30, 2026, to review the university’s self-evaluation and assess how ICOM meets NWCCU’s accreditation standards, policies and procedures. Accreditation by NWCCU indicates that an institution meets or exceeds established criteria for institutional quality through a rigorous, peer-review process.
Current accreditation status
ICOM currently holds institutional accreditation by the Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation (COCA). COCA is dissolving and will no longer serve as an institutional accreditor after 2029, but remain ICOM’s program accreditor.
Most recent commission action
ICOM was approved for eligibility by NWCCU in February 2024.
