The Idaho College of Osteopathic Medicine’s Spring Commencement festivities included the Class of 2026 Graduation Gala, held on April 29, 2026 at Boise Center East. Graduates, faculty, staff and guests gathered in person to celebrate.

Ten institutional awards were bestowed, along with 20 class superfluous awards. The award recipients are listed below.

President’s Award: Mary Pendleton
The President’s Award recognizes a graduate who has made significant contributions to their community through service and humanitarianism. The award recognizes their commitment to service, outstanding character, and leadership throughout medical school.

Dean’s Award: Michael McParlan
The Dean’s Award recognizes a graduate who has demonstrated excellence in academics and leadership.

Research Award: Gabrielle Echt
The Research Award recognizes a graduate who has demonstrated a commitment to research throughout medical school.

Valedictorian Award: Tomas Mikulis
The Valedictorian Award recognizes a graduate with the highest grade point average among the class.

Osteopathic Distinction Award: Kyle Scheer
The Osteopathic Distinction Award recognizes a graduate with a demonstrated interest in osteopathic principles and practice.

Clinical Excellence Award: Aria Minjarez
The Clinical Excellence Award recognizes a graduate’s outstanding clinical prowess manifested in clinical skills, medical knowledge, and exemplary bedside manner.

Donna Jones Moritsugu Memorial Award: Brett Pendleton
The American Osteopathic Foundation (AOF) with the Advocates for the American Osteopathic Association (AAOA) grants this award to the spouse of a graduating osteopathic medical student who best exemplifies the type of selfless, immeasurable support that is crucial to their partner’s success. 

Outstanding Faculty Award: Jenifer Barry, MD
The Outstanding Faculty Award recognizes a faculty member who has made a positive impact and demonstrated a dedication to student success and teaching.

Outstanding Staff Award: Tara Bollwinkel
The Outstanding Staff Award recognizes a staff member who has made an impact on student success and/or ICOM’s success over the last four years.

Clinical Faculty Award: Don Dyer, MD
The Clinical Faculty Award recognizes a clinical faculty member who has demonstrated a dedication to quality teaching, enthusiasm for students, and a continuing effort to improve the knowledge and experience of each medical student.

Biomedical Faculty Award: Stephanie Child, PhD
The Biomedical Faculty Award recognizes a biomedical faculty member who has demonstrated a dedication to quality teaching, enthusiasm for students, and a continuing effort to improve the knowledge and experience of each medical student.
