The Idaho College of Osteopathic Medicine is proud to announce that third-year student, Mara Krutsinger, has been selected by the American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine (AACOM) as one of only two interns for the 2025-2026 Osteopathic Health Policy Internship – marking the third time an ICOM student has earned this honor.

The OHPI offers a distinguished, eight-week virtual experience with AACOM’s Government Relations team, affording participants an opportunity to engage directly in federal healthcare and higher education policy, observe legislative and regulatory processes, and learn advocacy, networking, and policymaking skills that shape national osteopathic medicine and patient-care access.
“I am thrilled to be one of the OHPI interns this year,” Student Physician Krutsinger said. “As a student pursuing a career in primary care, I am eager to gain hands-on experience in advocacy and policy and contribute to the impactful work that AACOM is involved in for medical students across the country.”
Student Physician Krutsinger was selected after a highly competitive interview process – a testament to her dedication to advocacy, leadership, and service. At ICOM, she has been active in promoting legislative awareness among her peers and encouraging civic participation. Her prior work includes organizing a policy-focused educational series for ICOM students, serving on the national student leadership team of the Student Osteopathic Medical Association (SOMA), championing student voting and political engagement, and acting as a peer mental health ambassador to support wellness within the ICOM community.
