William “Billy” Lawson, a third-year student at the Idaho College of Osteopathic Medicine, has been honored with Senator Mike Crapo’s Spirit of Freedom: Idaho Veterans Service Award – recognizing his exceptional service to Idaho’s veteran community.

A U.S. Air Force Academy graduate and former Air Force Captain, Student Physician Lawson served nine years on active duty, including as a Construction Flight Commander with Air Force Central Command in the Middle East.
Since moving to Idaho, Student Physician Lawson has continued his service through volunteer work at the Idaho State Veterans Home in Boise. Known for his warm presence and reliability, he not only volunteered regularly in the canteen, but also recruited fellow ICOM students to support activities at the home. Student Physician Lawson often brought along his golden retriever, Stanley, who quickly became a beloved source of comfort and companionship for residents.
ICOM congratulates Student Physician Lawson on this well-earned recognition and is proud to see him embody the spirit of service both in and out of uniform.
