The Idaho College of Osteopathic Medicine (ICOM) is pleased to announce that it has been recognized as an Apple Distinguished School for 2019-2022 for its unique implementation of Apple technology in creating a culture of engagement amongst the students, faculty and staff at Idaho’s first medical school.

Apple Distinguished Schools are centers of innovation, leadership, and educational excellence that use Apple technology to inspire creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking. They showcase innovative uses of technology in learning, teaching, and the school environment and have documented results of academic accomplishment.

“The selection of ICOM as an Apple Distinguished School highlights our success as an innovative and compelling learning environment that engages students and provides tangible evidence of academic accomplishment,” said Dr. Tracy J. Farnsworth, ICOM President.

Through ICOM’s modern curriculum, state-of-the-art facility, and multitude of high-tech offerings, the college is designed to train the physicians of the future. ICOM is committed to increasing access to health care by growing the region’s physician population. To accomplish this, the college relies on a strong foundation that combines curriculum, instruction, and technology. Not only is this foundation supportive of the college’s mission to train America’s future doctors, it also allows room for continual development, innovation, and sustainability.

“From ensuring educators and students are equipped with the best devices and programs to maximize learning opportunities, to being able to use those same devices and programs on the operational side of running a medical school, Apple has proven to be the platform that seamlessly weaves together all aspects of ICOM,” said Brian Atkinson, ICOM Director of Information Technology.
