ICOM Celebrates Research Day

For the fourth consecutive year, the Idaho College of Osteopathic Medicine (ICOM) hosted its annual Research Day — a campus-wide celebration of the research and scholarly endeavors of the College’s researchers.

“Research Day gives our student doctors the opportunity to showcase the scholarly projects  they have conducted under the guidance of ICOM faculty mentors and in collaboration with local researchers,” said Dr. Todd Coffey, Chair of the Research Department at ICOM. “It is a day filled with positive energy, excitement, and pride in sharing new discoveries and knowledge. We were thrilled to have such a prominent researcher in Dr. Licciardone address us and we also enjoyed welcoming researchers from the local community to our campus again.”

This year’s keynote speaker for Research Day was John Licciardone, DO. Dr. Licciardone is the preeminent researcher on the osteopathic approach for treatment of chronic pain. His presentation provided a research perspective on decades of evidence pertaining to the osteopathic approach for chronic pain management, particularly involving the lower back.

Following Dr. Licciardone’s presentation, 5 students delivered oral presentations, 19 students delivered poster presentations, and 9 students delivered case reports.
